EduVarsity ("Platform") is operated by Edgez Educare ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparent data handling practices. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information in accordance with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By accessing and using EduVarsity, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by all the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our Platform.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Profile Information

When you create an account, we collect: full name, email address, school or institution name, city, state, subjects taught/expertise areas, board affiliations (CBSE, ICSE, State Board, etc.), years of teaching experience, and UDISE code (if applicable).

2.2 User-Generated Content

Posts, articles, discussions, messages, gallery images, job listings, event RSVPs, comments, and any other content you create or share on the Platform.

2.3 AI Tool Usage

Data related to your use of AI-powered features (lesson planning, content generation, assessment creation), including input prompts and usage frequency. AI outputs are not stored long-term and are processed in compliance with data protection standards.

2.4 Connection & Community Data

Your network (connections, followers), participation in groups, events attended, comments, reactions, and community engagement metrics.

2.5 Technical Information

Session cookies for authentication and maintaining login state, browser type, IP address, device information, and sessionStorage for temporary caching of your preferences. We do not use persistent tracking cookies or perform profiling beyond Platform functionality.

3. How We Use Your Data

3.1

Personalization: Tailor your experience, recommend connections, and suggest relevant content based on your subjects and expertise.

AI Features: Power lesson planning, content generation, assessment creation, and other AI-driven tools using your inputs and preferences.

3.3

Community Features: Display your posts, profile, connections, and participation in groups and events to other members (unless you opt for anonymity).

3.4

Job Matching: Match your profile with relevant job opportunities and facilitate connections between teachers and schools.

3.5

Analytics & Improvements: Analyze aggregated, anonymized data to understand Platform usage patterns and improve features (no personal identification).

3.6

Communication: Send service-related notifications (account updates, policy changes) via email. Marketing communications require your opt-in consent.

3.7

Legal Compliance: Comply with legal obligations, enforce our Terms of Use, and protect against fraud or misuse.

4. Data Storage & Security

4.1 Infrastructure

Your data is stored in Supabase (PostgreSQL-based cloud infrastructure) with servers located in compliant jurisdictions. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS/SSL) and encrypted at rest. We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical security measures to protect against unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, or destruction.

4.2 Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as necessary to provide Platform services and fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy. When you request account deletion, your personal data is securely deleted within 30 days. Archived or anonymized data may be retained for analytics purposes.

4.3 Limitation of Liability

While we implement industry-standard security measures, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their login credentials.

5. Your Rights Under DPDP Act 2023

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the following rights:

5.1 Right to Access

You can request a copy of all personal data we hold about you via your account settings or by contacting support.

5.2 Right to Correction

You can update, correct, or modify inaccurate personal information directly through your account profile. Contact support for assistance with data you cannot access directly.

5.3 Right to Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten")

You can request permanent deletion of your account and associated personal data. Upon request, we will securely delete your data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate operational purposes (e.g., dispute resolution).

5.4 Right to Withdraw Consent

For any data processing based on your consent (e.g., marketing emails, non-essential analytics), you can withdraw consent at any time without penalty. Withdrawal does not affect the legality of processing prior to withdrawal.

5.5 How to Exercise Your Rights

To exercise any of these rights, access your account settings or contact our support team via our in-app support system. We will respond to requests within 30 days.

6. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do NOT sell your personal data to third parties. However, we share data with the following service providers to operate the Platform:

6.1 Service Providers

  • Supabase: Cloud infrastructure and database storage (encrypted, server-side)
  • Resend: Transactional email delivery (account notifications, password resets)
  • Google OAuth: Secure authentication and sign-in (your email only, no profile data extracted)
  • Groq & Google Gemini: AI processing for lesson planning, content generation, and assessments (anonymized inputs, no personal identification)

6.2 Public Content

Posts, discussions, and other public content you share are visible to all Platform members (unless you use Faceless Whispers for anonymous sharing). Search engines may index public profiles.

6.3 Legal Compliance

We may disclose personal data if required by law, court order, or government regulation, or to protect the rights, privacy, safety, or property of EduVarsity, our users, or the public.

7. Anonymity & Faceless Whispers Group

EduVarsity offers a "Faceless Whispers" group for completely anonymous sharing. When you post in this group:

  • Your identity is completely concealed from other users.
  • No profile information, name, school, or identifier is displayed.
  • Posts are attributed only to an anonymous handle.
  • We do not track or log identity associations for anonymized posts beyond our internal infrastructure requirements.
  • Anonymous posts are subject to the same content policy as non-anonymous posts (no harassment, misinformation, or illegal content).

Note: While we guarantee anonymity to other users, in case of legal investigation or court order, we may be compelled to disclose identity information to authorities as required by law.

8. Cookies & Local Storage

8.1 Session Cookies

We use session cookies to maintain your login state and provide core Platform functionality. These cookies expire when you close your browser or log out and are essential for security.

8.2 Local Storage & sessionStorage

We use sessionStorage to temporarily cache your preferences, draft posts, and search filters during your session. This data is cleared when you close the browser tab.

8.3 No Persistent Tracking

We do not use persistent tracking cookies, pixels, or similar technologies for behavioral profiling or cross-site tracking.

9. Account Deletion

You can request permanent deletion of your account and all associated personal data at any time through your account settings or by contacting support. Upon deletion request:

  • Your profile will be immediately deactivated and hidden from the Platform.
  • Personal data (name, email, profile info) will be securely deleted within 30 days.
  • Content you created may remain on the Platform (to maintain community discussions and prevent orphaned comments) but will not be attributed to you.
  • Backups and archived data may retain information for up to 90 days for security and disaster recovery purposes.

10. Data Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach or unauthorized access to your personal data, we will:

  • Notify affected users without undue delay (within 72 hours where required by law).
  • Provide information about the nature of the breach and steps to mitigate risk.
  • Notify relevant authorities as required by the DPDP Act and other applicable laws.

11. Children's Privacy

EduVarsity is designed for teachers and education professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 years of age. If we become aware that a child has provided personal data, we will delete such information immediately and terminate the child's account. Parents or guardians who believe a child has shared data should contact us via our support system.

12. Third-Party Links

EduVarsity may contain links to external websites and third-party services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before sharing personal data. This Privacy Policy applies only to information collected through the EduVarsity Platform.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. Material changes will be notified to you via email or an in-app notification at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Platform after updates constitute acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy. We recommend reviewing this policy periodically.

14. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

This Privacy Policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of India. Any disputes arising from or relating to this Privacy Policy or our data handling practices shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Pune, Maharashtra, India. Both parties agree to submit to the jurisdiction of these courts.

If you have any questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy, your personal data, or our data handling practices, please contact us via our in-app support system. We will respond to your inquiry within 30 days.

For data subject requests (access, correction, deletion), please use the "Data Rights Request" option in your account settings or contact support directly.
